Box (Boxwood) is the ideal plant for formal low hedges or pathway edging as well as being a classic topiary plant. Buxus has very dense small round dark evergreen leaves. Box is evergreen and a slow growing plant and it should be trimmed in late spring with hand shears if possible, keeping the blade of the shears parallel to the hedge surface. It is shade tolerant and is suitable for most soil types and sites other than wet or windy sites.
