Out of stock
The Common Holly (Ilex aquifolium) Root ball Plants 120cm (4ft)
Bulk order of 10 plant. Holly is very popular hedge choice for a variety of reasons.
Lustrous, spiny, dark green leaves and long-lasting, bright red berries from autumn to
winter. As a native, British hedging evergreen species, its attractions are that it is relatively
slow-growing, an average of 30cm (1ft) of height growth each year, so little maintenance required.
Holly planted as a pure hedge is simply quite fantastic. As a wildlife habitat, the orange-red berries are very
attractive to birds. Holly should be trimmed in autumn and also mid summer if required.
Holly prefers either full or partial shade and a moist, but not wet-type soil and copes well with exposed sites and seaside locations.
Garden care: Plants grown as free-standing specimens require minimal pruning – remove diseased or misplaced branches in spring.
Trim plants grown as formal hedges in late summer.
